We are Sheila and Jimmy and are continuing a 300 years tradition here at Trefrank Farm. Our family has been here since 1703 and are set to continue for a few hundred years more. The settlement of Trefranck was first recorded in 1276.
Trefrank is a mixed farm of 340 acres of beef cattle and sheep. In addition there are many other animals which add to our way of life including goats, dogs, cats, and chickens, so there are always lovely fresh free range eggs. Our daughter Pippa also has a small flock of rare breed Balwen Sheep, with their unique markings.
There is an abundance of wildlife around the farm including rabbits, foxes, deer, badgers, bats, owls and buzzards. You are welcome to go on a tour around the farm with Sheila to see the animals and find out more about life at Trefrank Farm.
From your cottage you can walk along the country lanes and plunge deep into Celtic Cornish History. Alongside St Clether Church, you can follow the footpath through fresh green bracken and the fragrant golden yellow gorse which when in full flower attracts butterflies and birds, just some of the wildlife that fills this lovely valley. The footpath leads to St Clether Holy Well with its granite alter and clear holy spring water, bubbling from deep within the ground. The well was built in pre Norman times, on the spot where it is said earth energy lines cross. A peaceful tranquil sanctuary away from it all.
